Long Island National Cemetery

The National Cemeteries in the U.S.A. are used for war graves, graves of U.S. military personnel, veterans and their spouses but not exclusively so. There are also special state veteran cemeteries.

In 2008, there were in total 333,592 graves on this cemetery.

It also contains 36 Commonwealth war graves from World War II.

The Long Island National Cemetery contains the following American war graves from the Second World War:

- Mass grave with the remains of three officers, one technical sergeant, two sergeants and four corporals who perished on 4 May 1945.
- Mass grave with the remains of four American servicemen and two members of the British Armed Forces who crashed in the Burmese jungle in April 1945. They were discovered in 1957.
