Ancol Dutch War Cemetery contains more than 2,000 graves, of men and women who were executed on this location because they resisted against the Japanese occupiers in the Second World war. They were buried in mass graves in the swamps. After the war, this cemetery was created on the same location. Amongst the graves are 131 Commonwealth burials, 73 of which are unidentified.
