Memorial No. 24 Air Sea Rescue Unit

The memorial was built in 2005 by the East Anglian Branch of the RAF ASR and MCS Club and funded by local and other donations. It was originally in memory of No. 24 ASRU based at Gorleston in WW2, but on request of the RAF ASR & MCS Club also became the National memorial to all who served in the RAF Marine Branch from its formation in 1918 to 1986 when closed. The ASR National Memorial, Gorleston, Trust was formed in 2015 to ensure that ongoing repair, upkeep and maintenance might continue long after the ex-RAF sailors passed.
Members of the Trust include ASR & MCS Club members, family members and friends of those who served and local residents. An annual service is held on Remembrance Sunday by the Port Chaplain, Rev Peter Paine, ex RAF launch crew and Trustee.
