ON AUGUST 1, 1943 A FOUR MOTORED ARMY AIR FORCE PLANE CRASHED 500 FT. WEST OF HERE. IN COMMEMORATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THIS FLIGHT CREW THAT PERISHED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.
