Memorial Executions Nijemirdum

On this location, on 6 April 1945, five members of the resistance (NBS and KP. Sneek/IJlst) were shot by the German occupiers.

Their names were:
Herre Winia Jr
Hendrik Huizenga
Durk Dijkstra
Gerrit Vlietstra
Jurjen Hoomans

They were shot on a remote location, at the Zandvoorderhoek nearby the IJssel-lake. Nothing was known until 18 October 1946, when one of the members of the firing squad pointed to this location where the men were shot and also buried.

The memorial is located on private land, but it is permitted to visit it.
