War Remnants Museum

The War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon, Hồ Chí Minh) focuses mainly on the Vietnam War, but also on the French Indochina war.

The museum's collection consists of many vehicles, objects and images of the Vietnam War. In the outdoor area, the well-known UH-1 (Huey) helicopter can be found, which is starring in many Vietnam films and series. Besides this Huey, a CH-47 (Chinook), AT-37 Dragonfly, Northrop F-5 and a Douglas A-1 Skyraider are part of the collection. Besides these helicopters and aircraft, some land vehicles, cannons and tanks such as an M48 Patton tank are part of the collection.

Inside the museum, they paid attention to various topics such as the B-52 bombings, the use of the defoliant Agent Orange and the use of Napalm. Photos show the damage and the terrible consequences of the use of these resources.

There is an exhibition about the time when Vietnam was still a colony of France (French Indochina). A French guillotine, which was used for executions belonges to the museum's collection.

The War Remnants museum is one of the most popular museums in Vietnam. It is consistently popular with Western tourists. The museum attracts about 500,000 visitors annually.
