Memorial Strongpoint Beatrice

On each former French "strongpoint" around Dien Bien Phu (Điện Biên Phủ) is a memorial commemorating the seizing of that strongpoint by the Viet Minh.
Strongpoint Beatrice was the first point that was attacked by the Viet Minh in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, on 13 March 1954. In the fights for this strongpoint, 500 French soldiers and 600 soldiers of the Viet Minh were killed.
