Independence Palace

This building in Hồ Chí Minh, the Independence Palace (Dinh Độc Lập), nowadays named the Reunification Palace (Dinh Thống Nhất) was built from 1962 to 1966 and was the presidential palace of South Vietnam.This place marks the end of the Vietnam War, when on 30 April 1975 a North-Vietnamese tank rammed through the gate and soldiers removed the flag of the regime from the roof and arrested president Duong Van Minh.

Nowaday the palace is a museum and a lot of rooms in their original state and the bunker can be visited. In the garden are several tanks and on the roof stand a UH-1H Huey and are marks where bombs fell.
