Belgian War Grave General Cemetery Dokkum

On the General Cemetery in Dokkum is a Belgian War Grave from the First World War. It is the grave of Martinus Franciscus Bosman , born on 20-12-1890 , deceased on 12-1-1919.

Frans Bosman was one of many Belgian refugees who sought shelter in the neutral Netherlands. After staying in an internment camp, he managed to find work. He landed in Dokkum a carpenter. A year later, he married woman from Dokkum, Jeltje Kramer. After the war he returned to Belgium to visit his family. During this visit he became infected with the Spanish flu, just a few months later he died in Dokkum.
