Memorial Hancock Field Cabbage Patch

The "Cabbage Patch" was a site near Robert Cole's famous bayonet charge. The battle here was led by Captain Fred Hancock, who was 34 years old on D-Day, the oldest company commander in the 502 PIR of the 101st Airborne. For Hancock's unit's action during the campaign, he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
