Memorial and Mass Grave Sabra and Shatila

From 16 to 18 September 1982, there was a massacre on the mostly Shiite residents of the Sabra neighborhood and Shitila refugee camp in Beirut, by a Christian militia called Phalange. This happened when the militia were ordered by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) to fight the PLO.
In the massacre at least 762 people were killed, but estimates range up to 3,500 victims.
