One Memorial Stone was placed here on 28-09-2016 for:
* HERMANUS JOANNES MARIE PLOMP (died 1 September 1942, Linz, aged 28)
Hermanus Joannes Marie Plomp was born on 18 July 1914 in The Hague. He was a sales manager by profession. Hermanus was involved in all kinds of activities within the resistance. He was arrested and taken to German labour camps. He died of typhoid in the hospital of Linz on 1 September 1942.
Herman Plomp died of typhus in the hospital in Linz, apparently because he was not admitted to the hospital in time. Doctor Kortschak was charged for this, but he was acquitted.
This memorial stone commemorates a resistance fighter who was arrested, deported and/or murdered in the Second World War.
These memorial stones are located here for victims of National Socialism (Nazism). They are often placed as an alternative to the official Stolpersteine of the Gunter Demnig project. Where there is no Stolperstein but people still want to commemorate, a slightly different memorial stone or plague is used. The memorials are in most cases laid in front of the last known home address of the victims.
