Memorial Stone Randenbroekerweg 77

One Memorial Stone was placed here on dd-mm-yyyy for:
* GERARDUS WILHELMUS JOHANNES JORDENSE (murdered 09-04-1944, Vught, aged 33)

Gerardus Wilhelmus Johannes Jordense was born on 1 July 1911 in Amersfoort. He was married and worked as an assistant detective for the Dutch Railways. Gerardus was arrested at the place where he had gone into hiding. The police entered his hiding place with the excuse that they had a message from his wife. He was taken to Camp Vught and executed there on 4 September 1944 during the ‘Vught before D-Day’ executions.

France posthumously awarded Gerardus a certificate for his noble behaviour in helping prisoners, deportees and escaped prisoners of war. The certificate was issued on 7 November 1947 and personally signed by General De Gaulle.

This memorial stone stands here for a resistance fighter who was arrested, deported and/or killed in the World War II.

These memorial stones are located here for victims of National Socialism (Nazism). They are often placed as an alternative to the official Stolpersteine of the Gunter Demnig project. Where there is no Stolperstein but people still want to commemorate, a slightly different memorial stone or plague is used. The memorials are in most cases laid in front of the last known home address of the victims.
