Memorial Stone Heiligenbergerweg 107

One Memorial Stone was placed here on 26-09-1945 for:
* ARRIS BRONK (murdered 28-02-1945, Sachsenhausen, aged 56)

Arris Bronk was born on 23 February 1889 in Amersfoort and was married to Antje Bronk-Schouw. He was a manufacturer of bakery ingredients. In the resistance, he was affiliated with the group of the sons of Reverend Rijper and he provided forged train tickets for Dutch Railways officials, under the alias ‘De Wit’. When he was arrested on 22 April 1944, copies of the illegal newspaper Trouw were found, as a result of which he and his wife were arrested and imprisoned in Camp Amersfoort. From there they were transferred to Camp Vught. His wife was later released there, but Arris was transported to Camp Sachsenhausen and was murdered there on 28 February 1945.

This memorial stone commemorates a resistance fighter who was arrested, deported and/or murdered in the World War II.

These memorial stones are located here for victims of National Socialism (Nazism). They are often placed as an alternative to the official Stolpersteine of the Gunter Demnig project. Where there is no Stolperstein but people still want to commemorate, a slightly different memorial stone or plague is used. The memorials are in most cases laid in front of the last known home address of the victims.
