Memorial Josef Simcik

This plaque commemorates Josef Simcik, who was killed on this location on 24 May 1991. He was the first victim of the Slovenian struggle for independence. During a demonstration, he tried to stop an YPA armoured vehicle but he was run over.
Robert Hvalc and Boris Adam, who were killed on 28 July 1991 during fights in Maribor, are commemorated on the plaque.
