From 1939 to 1969 Korney Chukovsky (a famous writer) lived and worked here. He lost a son during the war. On the entrance to the same building, a plaque also reads, "from 1944 to 1946 this was the house of Soviet artist Nikolai Pavlovich Hmelev." Hmelev served in the 2nd Division of the People's Militia Stalin District during the war.
