Japanese AA Battery Pohnpei

This Japanese AA battery can be found on top of the Sohkes mountain on the island of Pohnpei. It consisted of a number of 127mm type 92 guns and was a key component in the island defence system. One of the guns bears the impact of a 75mm shell, fired from a B-25 bomber. The island was often shelled from the sea and air, but never conquered by the Allies during the Second World War.
