Memorial World War One

On the wall of the Laurence, Scott & Electromotors ("LSE") building on Hardy Road in Norwich are a clock and a plaque to remember by name 33 company employees who died in World War I.

This tablet was erected by the
employees of Laurence, Scott & Co. Ltd.
in proud and glorious memory of
their fellow workmen who gallantly
gave their lives in the Great War.
1914-1919
and the clock above by the company in
grateful recognition thereof.

"There were over 500 people on the payroll in October, 1914. With the War, the firm did much of its business direct with the Admiralty and in 1915, with the help of Boulton & Paul, built new shops to help with the shell shortage. 3 inch and 5 inch shells were made at a rate of 250 shells per day for the duration of the War."
