Saint-Nazaire-sur-Charente contains two graves of Dutch sailors who were killed in the Second World War, Wilhelmus van Trigt and Kerst Ekema. They died both on 11 August 1943 when their ship was sink by a mine, east of the island Ile Madame. They were buried on 16 August 1943. Their names are not written on the graves.
