Memorial Major Roseveare La Dives

Despite being dropped about three miles north of his designated landing zone on D-Day, Major John Couch Adams Roseveare of the 3rd Parachute Squadron of the Royal Engineers gathered several dozen men, fought their way through Troan and made it to the bridge over the Dives River near Saint-Samson. They blew it up at 5:00 AM and made their escape.

Translation:
This plaque was placed by the commune of Troan on 5 June 1986 in tribute to Major J.C.A. Roseveare and his men who heroically blew up this bridge at dawn on 6 June 1944
