Hachijojima Airport

Hachijojima was reinforced with a strong Japanese garrison who fortified it. The island was bombed 26 times, mostly by B-29 of Task Force 58, in 1945. The U.S. Army suffered heavy losses during those attacks. According to official sources, 5853 inhabitants were evacuated during the war.

This airport was built by the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1926. It also served for military purposes during the Second World War.
