38 of the 167 civil victims of Stavelot
have been cowardly killed by the SS
in December 1944
The sign next to the monument lists the names of the 38 residents who were killed.
You get quiet when you read the names and ages and what drama took place here.
The two youngest victims were only 4 years old ! The oldest victim was 75 years old.
Of the Daisomont family, father, mother and two daughters, aged 14 and 18, died.
Of the Mignon family, mother and two daughters aged 4 and 6 died.
Of the Prince family, mother and three children, ages 4, 12 and 14, died. They are buried at Stoumont (see photo 5).
Of the Rouxhet family, mother and four children, ages 7, 9,12 and 14, died.
