This memorial commemorates General Roy Stanley Geiger (1885-1947). He served in both World Wars in the United States Marine Corps. In World War II he became the first Marine Corps general to lead an army-sized force, the U.S. Tenth Army after he commanded the III Amphibious Corps in the Battle of Okinawa.
