Memorial Killed Soldiers at the Zweth

On may 12th 1940 German para-troops landed north of Rotterdam. In polder Schieveen the Dutch tried to prevent their way to Rotterdam. Two Dutch soldiers of the third regiment Huzaren lost their lives in it.

The plaquette bears the text:
‘On may 12th 1940 at this place have fallen:
J. GOUWELEEUW SCHIEDAM 3 PEL.4-3-R.H.
M. V.D. HAVE ZIERIKZEE 3 PEL 4-3-R.H.'


The memorial is placed on the southern bank of De Zweth.
