Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris

Notre Dame in Paris had much war damage in the Second World War. The big bell of the church, "the Emmanuel", withstood the war. The Allied liberation of Paris in 1944 was celebrated within Notre-Dame with the singing of the Magnificat.

The cathedral was used for state funerals by the Vichy regime during the German occupation of France.

The cathedral was heavily damaged by fire in 2019 and is currently undergoing renovation.
