Ship Wreck USS Halligan (DD-584)
The Fletcher-class destroyer 'USS Halligan' hit a sea mine on 26 March 1945. The hulk was further battered by pounding surf and Japanese shore batteries. The ship lost one-half her crew of 300.
Halligan received six battle stars for World War II service.
