Spanish Civil War Memorial Santander

This memorial commemorates the residents of Santander who fought on the Nationalist side and were killed or missing in the Spanish Civil War. It specifically remembers the Falangists who were thrown over the cliffs by the Republicans. It shows a victim trying to stop himself from falling to his death on the rocks below.

Nowadays the policy is that many Nationalist memorials are no longer maintained. If they are damaged by the lack of maintenance or due to vandalism (which happens often), then they are often removed.
