Location Execution Lluís Companys
On this location in the moat of the castle of Montjuic, Lluís Companys, was executed. He was President of Catalonia from 1934 and during the Spanish Civil War. He was executed by the Franco-regime on 15 October 1940, the only incumbent democratically-elected European president to have suffered this fate.
