With the placement of the first wire fencing the house was just inside the closed area. After the movement of the 'Dodendraad' (death wire) it was outside and therefore together with other houses closed off from the outside. There was no contact possible with Belgium or Arendonk, but also no possibility to contact The Netherlands. This house therefore symbolises the isolation in which the people had to live after the placement of the 'Dodendraad'.
