Peace Pole Zutphen

Behind the Berkelpoort in Zutphen, a peace pole is erected. On the monument is the tekst as written below, there is also a Braille text for visually impaired.

Deze Vredespaal is geplaatst op 21 september 2012 na 10 jaar vieren van de Internationale Dag van Vrede in Zutphen
Het ‘Peace-Pole-Project’ is gestart in 1955 door Masahisa Goi als een internationaal Symbool van vrede. Hij besloot zijn leven te wijden aan het verspreiden van de boodschap "moge vrede op aarde" als een reaktie op het werpen van de atoombommen op Hiroshima en Nagasaki
Er is nu een wereldwijd netwerk met 200.000 vredespalen in 190 landen

This peace pole is set op on the 21 of September 2012 after 10 years of celebarting International Day of Peace in Zutphen
The Peace Pole Project was started by Masahisa Goi in 1955 as an international symbol of peace
He decided to dedicate his life to spread the message "May peace prevail on earth". The project was a response to the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
There is now a worldwide network of 200.000 peace poles in 190 countries
