General Maeda Memorial

This memorial commemorates the Japanese general marquess Maeda Toshinari, who died in a crash at Bintulu on 5 September 1942 when en route to open the airfield. The island of Labuan was renamed ´Maida Island´ by the Japanese government on 9 December 1942.

This memorial was made by order of General Tojo.
