Memorial Crash Douglas A-26 Invader

This memorial commemorates the Douglas A-26B-5 Invader 43-22253 bomber air disaster of 11 July 1944. The aircraft was underway from Barksdale Field to Portland-Westbrook Municipal Airport. Two crew members (Pilot Lieutenant Phillip "Phee" Russell and his navigator Staff Sergeant Wallace Mifflin) and 17 residents were killed. Another 20 residents were wounded.
