This museum is dedicated to the military history of the British weaponry and is located inside Fort Nelson.
Fort Nelson, named after the nearby column to Horatio Nelson, was built in the 1860s as part of Lord Palmerston project to protect Portsmouth.
During WW1, the Fort was used as a barracks for troops deploying to the Western Front and during WW2 was used as anti-aircraft ammunition storage depot.
There are examples of British and captured artillery pieces dating from the Iraq War all the way back to the 1450 covering virtually every British conflict.
For current visiting hours, please visit the website of the museum.
