This plaque commemorates colonel Wilhelm Staehle, commander of the Invalidensiedlung in Berlijn. He was involved in the resistance and he had contacts with resistancegroups in the Netherlands.
When this became clear, he was arrested. Because there was few evidence, he was only sentenced to jail. Shortly after, on 23 April 1945, he was murdered by a murder-commando of the Nazis.
