This memorial commemorates Frank Foley, who was born in Highbridge.
As officer of the British Secret Intelligence Service, he checked passports in the British Embassy in Berlin. In 1939, by doing this, he was able to let thousands of Jewish Family emigrate out of Germany and save their lives. He also resqued Jews out of concentration camps, hided them in his own house and helped them get forged passports.
He was awarded by Yad Vashem as Righteous among the Nations.
