Karl Plagge was a German Wehrmacht officer and responsible for a labor camp. Under his hands, the camp became a safe haven for Jews and their family for who he created new work possibilities.
When the SS wanted to liquidate the camp, Karl Plagge managed to let escape 250 people. They have survived the war.
For his deeds, he was awarded by Yad Vashem as Righteous among the Nations.
