War Memorial Eeklo

This memorial ("The Soldier and the Girl") on Canadaplein commemorates the residents of Eeklo who were killed or missing in the First World War and the Second World War.

Next to the monument are plaques with the names of Canadian soldiers who died in the battle for Eeklo in 1944. There is also a plaque for the 45th anniversary of the liberation of Eeklo on September 15, 1944.

The artist who made the statue is Leo de Buysere.
