The memorial contains the coats of arms of the nine former hamlets which formed the municipality of Schipluiden (meanwhile Schipluiden formed in 2004 together with Maasland the new municipality of Midden-Delfland).
Beneath the coats of arms the memorial bears the names of fourteen villagers who died because of the Second World War and three villagers who were killed in the Dutch East Indies during the Indonesian Independence War.
