Grave of Herman Coster

This grave, on Heroes' Acre Cemetery (or Church Street Cemetery) is of Hermanus Jacob Coster from the Netherlands, who was killed on 21 October 1899 in the Battle of Elandslaagte.

Because many Boer were of Dutch origin, the Netherlands was pronounced pro-Boer and about 2,000 Dutch volunteers went to South Africa to fight on the side of the republics.
