Camp Rice

In 1942, Camp Raice was set up as training-location for American troops in the Second World War.

Until 1944, when the camp was closed, a total of 13 infantry divisions and 7 armored divisions plus numerous smaller units were trained in this harsh environment. Over one million American soldiers were trained for combat here.

There was also a large army depot here. Remnants of the base are still visible and there is also a monument here.
