Crash Site Consolidated B-24D-CO "Li'l Deicer" 41-11850

Thos B-24D made an emergency landing on Ilak on 13 August 1944. Alle crew members survived and were rescued by the U.S. Navy three hours later. The U.S. Army attempted to destroy the wreck by bombing runs but failed. Eventually, a sapper team set the wreckage on fire. The wreckage still lies on the island and the bomb craters surrounding the plane are clearly visible.
