The Consolidated B-24D "Lady Be Good" crashed here in the night of 4-5 April 1943. The crew managed to parachute safely out of the plane. However, all would perish in the heat of the desert in 2 groups. The first group of five were found 80 miles (130 km) from the crash site. Of the group of the last three, one airman was found 20 miles (23km) north of the crash site, one 27 miles (43km) north of the crash site and the last one remains missing. The wreckage was discovered in 1958.
