This is the grave of Alexander Hamilton Stephens (1812-1883), an American politician from the state of Georgia and the Confederate vice president throughout the American Civil War and after the end of the War, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives again (1873–82) and governor of Georgia (1882-1883).
