Kure Harbor & Naval Base
The last remains of the Japanse navy were destroyed here by the allied forces between 24 and 28 July 1945. The Allies lost 102 men and 133 warplanes. The Japanese navy lost more than 11 warships, 306 warplanes and a further 392 warplanes were damaged.
