This cemetery contains 29 graves of unknown Confederate soldiers who were killed in the American Civil War (1861-1865).

The monument, known as the First Monument to Unknown Confederate Dead, commemorates the 29 unknown Confederates who gave their lives in the American Civil War (1861-1865) and are buried here.
