This memorial commemorates the pro-Union guerrillas from the area who burned the railroad bridge over nearby Lick Creek on 8 November 1861, as part of a larger plan to make way for a Union Army invasion. On the memorial are the names of the participants who were subsequently hanged by Confederate authorities: Henry Harmon, Jacob Harmon, Jacob Hinshaw, Christopher Haun and Henry Fry.
