Lieutenant colonel Johann August Heinrich Heros von Borcke (23 July 1835 – 10 May 1895) was a Prussian cavalry officer who served in the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia during the American Civil War (1861-1865). After the war, von Borcke rejoined the Prussian Army for the Austro-Prussian War, but retired in 1867 due to lingering wounds he had suffered during his service to the Confederacy.
He died due to a sepsis caused by the remaining projectile which had wounded him in the Battle of Middleburg on 19 June 1863. His headstone over his grave, at the family-chapel in Giesenbrügge (now Giżyn), was destroyed by the Soviet army during the Second World War. In 2008 a new headstone was installed, purchased by The Sons of Confederate Veterans.
