American War Graves Lexington Cemetery

On Lexington Cemetery is the grave of John Hunt Morgan (1825-1864). He was a Confederate general in the American Civil War (1861-1865). On 27 November 1863, he escaped from a prisoner-of-war camp. In a fight with Union troops in Greeneville, Tennessee he was killed, on 4 September 1864.
