This memorial is located at the Fort George G. Meade Museum. It commemorates the 29th U.S. Infantry Division, which was mobilized at Fort Meade in 1941. On D-Day, the division stormed ashore on Omaha Beach. Eleven months of battles and campaigns in Europe followed.
In total, the 29th U.S. Infantry Division suffered 19,814 casualties, killed, wounded and missing.
