Grand Army of the Republic Memorial
This memorial commemorates the last survivor of the Grand Army of the Republic. Albert Woolson was born on 11 February 1847 and went to the American Civil War as a drummer boy at the age of 17. He died on 2 August 1956 at the age of 109. He was the last official survivor of the over 2 million men who served the United States in the Civil War.
